A long standing Swedish manufacturer with its present headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden. Husqvarna is a leading manufacturer of outdoor power and gardening watering products as well as construction products – in particular their diamond product range. The origins of the Husqvarna company date back as far as 1689 when the organisation was first established as a state owned rifle factory, by the early 1700s, it was employing over 1000 people – the last rifle was produced in 1989.

By 1872 the factory had begun to manufacture sewing machines in addition to the rifles, production of the sewing machines lasted until 1997. Two years after Husqvarna had started the production of sewing machines, it went on to manufacture kitchen equipment, this turned out to be a massive success, with products exported all over the globe. 1896 saw the production of bicycles, before moving onto motorcycles in 1903. In 1918 the group introduced their first gardening products with the production of lawnmowers – chainsaws were added to the product range in 1959 as forestry became increasingly important to the Swedish economy. This expanded into the 60s and 70s with introduction of power cutters, chainsaws with integral anti-vibration properties. In the late 1970s Husqvarna was acquired by Electrolux, where outdoor product operation really took off with the introduction of further outdoor equipment. Throughout the 80s and 90s, the Husqvarna’s product range continued to grow producing the world’s first solar powered robotic lawnmower in 1995.

In 2006 Husqvarna became independent once more and has since expanded considerably – the organisation now owns several well known brands including; Flymo, Gardena, Weedeater, Diamant Boart, McCulloch, Jonsered, PoulanPro and others. It currently sells its products to a range of industries including commercial lawn and garden sectors, landscaping, forestry, tree care, construction and the domestic market.
