Wheel Loaders

A wheel loader is a piece of heavy equipment used to move and load a number of materials, such as soil, rocks, sand and gravel etc. It is a frequent sight on the construction site, in quarries and is useful in a wide range of other applications. They may also be referred to as bucket loaders, front end loaders and more colloquially as diggers.

In its basic form a wheel loader is a type of tractor, usually wheeled and less commonly, on tracks. This four-wheel drive piece of heavy equipment is used primarily to load loose materials which are loaded onto a front-mounted square bucket - this is connected to the end of 2 booms (arms) which can be raised and lowered by the cabin operator.

Outstanding Durability & Productivity

Wheel loaders benefit from offering high productivity whilst being relatively low maintenance at the same time. Components are exceptionally tough and hard-wearing and are suitable for different types of jobs with varying shovel capacity and different engine power. Wheel loaders are highly versatile with the ability to carry out a wide variety of heavy loading jobs on the construction site and during other applications.

Different Types of Wheel Loaders

Available in a range of different sizes to suit varying purposes – wheel loaders are available in compact, small, medium and large sizes – all of which have corresponding bucket load sizes and engine power. Depending on the size of the wheel loader, a large load capacity can be offered – this is useful when transporting heavy loads and moving materials but also during digging and excavation jobs (where they may be used in conjunction with excavators) and for preparing jobsites, during road building and for clearing spaces. Newer models offer advanced drivetrain technology which adds even more durability and robustness.

Backhoe Loaders

A type of wheel loader, the backhoe loader has a bucket on the front and a backhoe on the back. These are often used on smaller constructions sites due to their versatility and ability to fit into tighter spots – making them extremely useful for most job sites.

Skid Steer Loader

These are available in varying sizes and are useful in a variety of applications such as demolition projects, construction, landscaping, levelling etc.

Swing Loader

These are often used in the railroad industry – the swing loader has a boom attached to a rigid frame, which can swing 180 degrees. Smaller sized swing loaders are sometimes used for farming applications, where space is limited.
